Big-brake kits: what they actually do (and don't do)

A common misconception: a six-piston caliper "stops the car shorter." It doesn't. Stopping distance is a function of tire grip. Big-brake kits do something else — they resist heat.

When to skip the upgrade

If you don't track, tow, or drive aggressively down long descents, spend the money on better pads and stainless lines first. You'll get 80% of the benefit for 20% of the price.
